Maybe it was the salt water... maybe it was having to duck under a quickly approaching 8 ft breaking wave while holding the camera. I tried to hold it up out of the water but the breaking wave had to be dealt with or risk a big underwater tumble..
I was standing just outside the breaking waves in
about 5 ft of water
..But as anyone who has body surfed, board surfed or jumped waves
knows, the wave break is not hugely predictable.
Taking photos of nearby surfers and keeping an eye on the next wave is
chancy, even with a "waterproof "camera.
