Valhalla Steam Logging Page
The Valhalla tree farm was steam-logged around the turn of the
century. There are still a few signs after one hundred years. Rusted cables sticking out of the
ground, cuts in the side of stumps, signs of a forest fire immediately after the logging, skid roads, evidence of log
railways. It is hard to believe, but this may have been how Valhalla
looked during those
days.

Here's a picture right out of the Valhalla "back forty" Many huge stumps, logs too large to move are still visible as you walk the trails at Valhalla. Several places, old pieces of cable still lay where they were left over 100 years ago. |
