Expectations for our Forestry Consultant
 

                                                        
- Interview (by walking the place) one of five local forestry professionals.

- Seek inputs on what exactly to do at this point in time from a smart tree farm management standpoint.

- Go over over our forest stewardship plan

- Skim the best advice from a volume of notes and come up with a harvest and a long term management plan that makes sense given what we have and aligned with the vision Earl Ingebright  had with his 50 years of managing the property as a family getaway and a working tree farm.

- Hire one of the five consultants to implement our harvest plan.



 

              
 
-Work with owner for a mutual understanding of the goals of the harvest.

- Perform field work for obtaining necessary permits.
- Prepare a timber harvest plan to manage the timber sale in an environmentally sound manner.

- Make surveys of Jordan Creek for a suitable crossing using a flatcar bridge
- Flag boundaries and riparian stay out zones
- Obtain state agreement on the use of a flatcar bridge to cross Jordan Creek
- Design a 33'x14' wide RR flatcar bridge and recommend a supplier
- Prepare maps, permit applications and necessary paperwork in preparation of timber sale.
-Utilize
CREF grants where it makes sense due to steep areas or inaccessible areas
- Locate a logging contractor who will log the areas with care and competitive percentage
- Negotiate optimum pricing contract with logging contractors.
- Discuss  mills and markets for harvested timber including poles with logger.
- Site visits during the harvest work.
- Ensure the cleanup of slash is included in the scope of work.
- Assist in selection of a contractor to replant Western Red Cedar and herbicide applications before brush invasion.
